1978 Kelly Peterson bluewater cutter is now for sale, exclusively with DBY Boat Sales.
Australian registered ship O.N 857067, IKARUS II has sailed more than halfway around the world and with a new engine or repair to the existing one, she could do it all again.
The original Perkins 4154 engine has recently failed and is now seized. A new owner will need to repair or replace. Currently still installed.
The classic centre cockpit is very roomy, high and dry above the waterline and gives an enormous feeling of safety whilst at sea. Completely protected from the elements from all sides with a combination of canvas and clears that can roll away or zip off. A great feature is the clever second companionway in the cockpit which leads aft to the very spacious stateroom with private ensuite and ensuring complete privacy from everything forward. The V berth is large and has its own enclosed bathroom, shared with guests that can use the single sofa or drop down double from the saloon table. There is a pilot berth in between the cabins which is snug and very suitable for skippers whilst on passage watch. It's here that the main engine access is obtained with two large sliding and removeable doors on the starboard side. Additional engine access is gained from the port side deep lazarette locker. The galley is well appointed and sea friendly with its layout and U shaped security.
This is a classic bluewater yacht that will take a couple or family anywhere they would want to venture.
