Boats need to be valued for a number of reasons, for insurance purposes, international importation or for peace of mind when buying/selling/inheriting a boat, especially when a number of people or family are involved. We are regularly called upon to provide valuations for all of these reasons.
Increasingly more boats are arriving from overseas and within the importation process is a requirement for valuation. If the boat is planned for resale by DBY we keep the valuation at arm’s length and will provide you with a list of 3rd party specialist Yacht Valuers that are accepted by Border Security. If the boat is sailing in from overseas and is being imported for local use by the owners and not for sale, we would be more than happy to provide an accurate valuation with our in-house team.
DBY is in the privileged position of being able to access and see the achieved prices that a type of boat has actually sold for via many other brokers. This is particularly the case and a valuable tool with some of the rarer international boats. Where our experience is most valuable is to assist buyers in purchasing a boat for the right price.
