Jeanneau Sun Odyssey 52.2

When she was built, this model was the flagship of the Jeanneau line. The Bruce Farr designed - Sun Odyssey 52.2 offered new levels of performance and pleasure. This 2002 model is the best example that we have seen in a long time. Extensively upgraded and fitted out for long-distance passage making with a high level of comfort. The cockpit has been recently fully enclosed in an amazing array of zip on/off clears and canvas which makes for a super large outdoor entertaining area and a dry, warm place to hang out during ocean mile munching. The internal volume of this large liveaboard yacht is immediately obvious when you step down below and notice the cavernous space with ultra-high headroom throughout the boat.

From her superb Farr hull, to her luxurious layout, up to her phenomenal cockpit and gorgeous deck, the Jeanneau 52.2 Sun Odyssey delivers all the discerning differences that make for a truly great yacht.

The Jeanneau Sun Odyssey 52.2 is strongly built for offshore sailing. The build incorporates a Kevlar reinforced hull, structural stringers, longitudinals, and perimeter bonded bulkheads (among other features), to ensure the utmost in structural strength and rigidity. The Jeanneau Sun Odyssey 52.2 is a moderate displacement, good all-around performance cruiser.

On deck, the yacht features wide walk-around areas with inboard shrouds promoting close sheeting for going to windward and super wide easy access forward. Even the little details are taken care of, such as installing the windlass in a protected compartment to protect it from harmful saltwater spray and to clear the deck area for easy sail handling. There is a dedicated anchor and chain washer installed in the recess. Cleats all have built-in nylon rollers so dock lines can be led to winches for springing the boat into the dock in difficult situations. The cockpit is extremely generous with a newly varnished table incorporated with the pedestal. It seats up to 8 quite easily and has internal storage. All controls are led to the forward end of the cockpit. The twin wheels are a delight. They make for easy passage through to the swim platform where you'll find the crew trailing their feet in the water on a hot day, or swimming and lounging while at anchor. This setup also gets the skipper outboard where one can really see the sails (and see around them!) and can easily grab or toss a line during docking manoeuvres. Sail handling is a breeze with furling genoa and in-mast, furling mainsail. Even the sheet winches are located forward so that, with the autopilot, one person can completely manage and even tack the boat from the protection of a dodger. Now you can have many of the advantages of a pilot house with none of the disadvantages!

Going downstairs and into the saloon, there is an oversized, wrap-around dinette with comfortable seating for up to 8. One of the best parts about the cabin of the Jeanneau 52.2 is its link to the outside world - the ventilation is superb!

The Navigation has plenty of room for a host of electronics with Railblaza brackets with iPad/tablet mounts, with plenty of room for today's modern navigator to bring a laptop and still have a wealth of equipment handy..

The large galley is on the starboard side. It includes double SS sinks, pressure H/C water, a 4 burner gas stove with oven, a hidden waste bin, and abundant storage. There is plenty of cool storage with a large benchtop chest refrigerator/freezer and an additional refrigerator at ground level. Benchtop space and storage are abundant in this open-plan saloon. A new addition to the saloon area is a 2019 model 4kg Camec front-loading washing machine, making living aboard a breeze.

Sleeping cabins...

The spacious owner's cabin features a vanity/office area, an ensuite with a walk-in shower and a decent-sized wash basin. This is a full-queen island berth with excellent ventilation from large opening hatches above the bed, dual fans, and numerous other overhead hatches. There is lots of storage with 2 x wardrobe spaces, drawers, cupboards, and underbed storage.

The 2 aft cabins are symmetrical and both have double-sized beds and ensuites, with the port side cabin converted to a storage locker with shelving, that could easily be converted back to a head if required.

Tomboy is owned by a New Zealand family and is currently NZ registered, but has not been exported or left Australian waters so all AU tax obligations are up to date.

An incredible yacht and a must to inspect.
