Simpson 43 Catamaran

2012 modified and upgraded Simpson 43, Ballerina Girl, for sale exclusively with DBY Boat Sales.

Just arrived in Australia from the Pacific. This boat is fully imported tax paid and Australian Gas Certified.

This is a one owner boat, professionally built in 2012.  A light, foam cored, vinylester and epoxy resin, super strong construction, she was designed to be easily driven with relatively small, easily handled sail areas that produce excellent daily runs.  She is designed to be easily handled by a crew of two, the owner and his wife having sailed her by themselves almost all the way from the Caribbean.

She presents beautifully. Ballerina Girl features a wonderful open plan.

The boat is powered by a single 130hp Volvo Penta diesel with a lifting outdrive leg. This is great for sailing without propellor drag and prevents electrolysis and marine growth on the propeller and leg.  She can motor at up to 12 knots if needed.

A bow thruster is incorporated for those tight locations.

She is equipped with three solar panels producing 540 watts of power and an aqua generator for charging when under sail. Her battery banks consists of: a) House bank: 6 x 100amp Battle Born brand lithium batteries, and b) Starter: 1 x lead-acid battery

Cabins and bathrooms: There are three cabins, two forward with queen sized beds and one with a double bed. All cabins have reading lamps and fans over the bed heads, and the two forward cabins are equipped with unique all-weather hatches, so no matter if it is rainy or sunny, the cabins are well ventilated.

All three cabins are equipped with vanity sinks and lots of storage/shelving. The master cabin in the port forward hull has its own ensuite toilet and shower with hot and cold water.  The other bathroom, in the aft section of the starboard hull, is large with a separate toilet and shower, also with hot and cold water. The toilets and showers in both bathrooms are separated by curtains that are very effective in preventing the showers from wetting the toilets.  The toilets are Lavac type, which are very simple to operate, without valves and switches. Both toilets are equipped with holding tanks.

The galley is located in the middle section of the port hull and features a wide-open visual connection with the saloon and is not at all “isolated” as in many of the older catamaran designs. The galley is equipped with two fridges and a complete range of galley equipment: hot and cold-water sink with drainboard, garbage bin, stove with oven and grill, toaster oven, microwave, kettle, pots and pans, cutlery, plates, cups and bowls, etc.

The saloon is uncluttered, spacious and airy with seating for eight around the beautifully crafted dining table. A TV and a Bose stereo are located on the starboard side of the saloon with good viewing angles from the seating.  A very efficient 12-volt Freezer/Fridge (Engel 80 litre capacity) is located in the saloon.

Cockpit: The cockpit is very spacious and is designed to seat people in foldable chairs that can of course be moved around to suit the number of people and the occasion. The steering station is located in the cockpit and is protected by a zip-away clear plastic screen.  It is very functional with excellent visibility over the roof of the cabin. The cockpit roof has a very useful and simple built-in rain water catchment system.

Nav instruments: Full Raymarine C90W Multifunction display with additional AIS, Radar, and Autopilot. Plus separate Depth, Speed, Wind Speed and Direction.

Other Equipment: Besides the Mainsail and the Jib, a Spinnaker, a Code Zero and a Gennaker. A Parachute Anchor (brand new and never used, thankfully!) Two single person (very light) kayaks with paddles.  An Inflatable AB dinghy, aluminium with two Tohatsu out boards, one 3.5hp and one 5hp (9 months old). A Gas BBQ mounted at the back of the  cockpit, fuelled by built-in LPG system.  Compact Mantus brand diving tank with regulator and back pack - brand new. Two Mantus latest generation anchors: one is 45 pounds with 165 feet of 8mm chain plus 130 ft of rope and one 25 pound anchor with chain and rope.  A powerful Lofrans Cayman Windlass.  Echotec 11 GPH Water maker. VHF Radio. ACR EPIRB.  Fishing rod, with stainless steel gaff and assorted fishing items.

Ballerina Girl is a comfortable and clean boat, set up for easy, short-handed cruising.  She draws only one meter and can be beached if/when necessary on her strong moulded-in keels. 

The owner has written a full Operators Manual that is quite detailed to ensure an easy handover to a new owner.
