1980 Compass 29 for sale exclusively with DBY Boat Sales.

Celeste (ex Sammie) is an original 1980 tiller steered Compass 29 sold to her current owners by DBY Boat Sales back in 2013. They simply haven’t found the time to use her of late and are hoping she will find loving new owners to get her back out sailing now.

Her standing rigging hasn’t been replaced since 2005 so that needs doing, but she does boast a roller furler, her whisker pole is stowed on the front of the mast which frees up the foredeck nicely, and her main is contained with lazyjacks and a zippered cover making life easy.

The important lines are led aft from the mast to jammers and two cabin top winches, she has a solar panel to keep the batteries topped up on the mooring, and aft of the cockpit is a teak “Princess” seat across the pushpit. She also has an Autohelm 2000ST autopilot.

A 2 burner metho stove, an icebox and cold pressure water in the galley, an enclosed bathroom, and up to 6 berths (with the saloon dinette table dropped), make her a great boat for nights and weekends away.

Her original 20hp Bukh diesel was removed and overhauled in 2014, and has been well serviced and maintained since, and we have full receipts for all work on the boat over the past 10 years. Her last antifoul was in November 2022, and her two House and one Engine Start batteries were replaced in March of this year. 

Compass 29’s have an encapsulated lead full keel and keel hung rudder and are therefore exceptionally strong cruising boats. Her 2013 survey report noted no osmosis and a 2019 insurance report notes GOOD against literally every aspect of the boat bar the anchor chain which in all honesty really is due for replacement now.

There has been some structural work done on the Port side chainplate down below and it is now perfect and some wood rot associated with a leak there at some point has now been neutralized but could do with some cosmetic patching behind the dinette’s forward backrest cushion.

In all she would make a fantastic first boat or weekender for a couple or young family as Compass 28’s and 29’s have done for decades.
