1974 Compass 28 now for sale exclusively with DBY Boat Sales.
Not necessarily the bargain of the year, but an original and very solid 1974 Compass 28, and with a bit of work she could make a very affordable entry to keelboat sailing.
Her standing rigging is in date, having been replaced in December 2016, but, before we go any further let’s cut to the chase and discuss the motor… it is original, a Yanmar 12hp diesel, but it is NOT currently running. There has been an estimate prepared for around $2500 to get it running again, but her owner who has enjoyed her regularly for the last 25 years, has moved on and decided to sell her as she is. An outboard on a bracket on the stern would be another option, or even a replacement motor… over to you.
She boasts a double v-berth forward, the dinette drops to make another narrow double or a comfy single, and there are two quarter berths aft. She has an enclosed toilet, a 2 burner methylated spirits stove, and an ice box. An AM/FM radio, a 27 Mhz and a UHF(?) radio, and a small solar panel to keep the battery topped up.
She has 5 sails: a main, no. 1, no. 2, and no. 3 headsails, plus a storm jib. NOTE there is no furler, all headsails are on hanks.
As well she has a boom awning, and a lovely Princess seat across the stern.
2 anchors plus chain and rode, 5 lifejackets, LED nav lights, everything you need to get out on the water, except an engine.
