Cavalier 32

This 1984 Cavalier 975 is the second last one built and is one of the best examples of this cruising yacht we have seen.

A meticulous owner has looked after her in all aspects and she is ready to go cruising. It is even registered with AMSA for international travel.

The Cavalier 975, affectionately known by its earlier model name as the Cav 32, is perhaps the best production cruiser to be produced in Australia and New Zealand, and certainly one of the most successful. Designed by Bob Salthouse, the concept was for a seaworthy design that could be raced offshore, while still providing good accommodation for family cruising.

Their offshore capabilities have been well proven with Australian circumnavigations and respectable racing performance. One of this model’s sister ships successfully completed several recent Sydney to Hobart races with only trainee crews.

This particular vessel is a truly excellent example of the model, with only two caring owners and minimal use.

The boat was factory fitted for the original owner who cruised to the Whitsundays, Lord Howe Island and Tasmania. Then, in the mid ‘90s it was put on hardstand under cover until purchased by the present owner several years ago. At that time, the mast was professionally refurbished with all new rigging and a furler. All lines feed back to the cockpit and a boom brake is fitted, so she is easy to singlehanded. The owner’s plan had been for cruising but family issues and a busy lifestyle intervened and so it has only been used locally since then.

The boat was antifouled in late 2013 at which time the hull was given a clean bill of health, while it underwent an insurance survey in late 2011. Both reports are available for viewing.

The owner also has numerous fittings and accessories in storage and will offer these to the successful buyer. Items such as LPG stove/oven, canvas covers and spray dodger will be free, while cruising gear such as watermaker, radar, HF radio and much more will be very attractively priced. The full list is available in the office.

Whether you have an interest in heading offshore, racing or just want a safe boat for family time on the water, you will find this opportunity hard to beat.
