John Lidgard, from a boat building family that goes back centuries, built Impetuous.

Impetuous fulfilled the owner’s need for a very strong and light boat.

An extensive inventory is included. The boat is designed for long term live-aboard and
short- handed comfortable sailing.

Sails.
A new mainsail, and a N3. are four years old.

Fully battened main.

The Mainsail has a roach, which is new idea for Impetuous, the No:3 is very quick too. Both were made in a 9oz sailcloth.
Masthead rig
Huge spinnaker, never used since a refit.
A pair of orange stormsails which are outstanding.
The Storm jib is set on a removable inner forestay via a highfield lever.
The Trysail is set on its own track on the mast.

All sails are in first class condition and in bags. Each sail has one sheet attached, so ready to use.

Rigging.

Yacht Spars.
Other than the upper spreaders, we went ‘one width up’ using 19 by 1.
Conventional top joiners. The bottom used Sta-Locks.
Profurl Roller Furler.

Hull/ Keel.
Double Diagonal Kauri, stringers and laminated frames of kauri, over 2 diagonals of 9mm, giving a skin thickness of 18mm. Glued with Recorcinal adhesive.

The amount of lead on the Keel, 6,600lbs (2986 kg) is half the weight of the unloaded displacement, which means the boat will carry sail without excessive heeling. The keel bolts are made from Monel too, that means being 66% nickel, they will not corrode.

One cloth sheet of 11oz glasscloth glued by West Epoxy.
5 coats of Coppercoat.
