Desiderata is a classic 66-foot ketch designed by John Alden and personally owned by him in the beginning of her life. A sister ship to Malabar XIII, she is simply eye catching and stunning in every regard. Ketch rigged for ease of sail handling and strong performance.
She was built with romance and racing in mind, so she performs exceptionally well under sail. Her history is extensive and shows she is a performance classic cruiser when required.
The yacht is currently owned by a professional couple that have owned her for 15 years and have absolutely maintained and cared for her meticulously.
A major refit was done in 2013 and the engine was removed and fully rebuilt in 2015. New 2024 engine batteries installed.
Her entire detailed history including plans, drawings, and World events that she has entered are all available. Powered by a super reliable Perkins diesel inboard, she has been upgraded with electronics along the way and presents in absolute turn-key presentation.
A detailed inventory is available as is a 2021 survey which would be suitable for insurance purposes.
